Richard B. Flynn
President,
Springfield College
We at Springfield College value our working relationship with the professionals of Jablonski DeVriese Architects. We have collaborated on various projects over the past decade and appreciate not only their talent, creativity, and expertise, but also their ability to listen well. They always take the time to ask about our hopes and dreams and clearly attend to our input. They consistently seek to understand our views on the expected outcomes of a project and how we define success.
Historically detailed projects are a specialty of Jablonski DeVriese. It should be noted that our Judd Gymnasia/Stitzer YMCA Center adaptive reuse project was completed on time and on budget, and subsequently has been named to receive a 2011 Preservation Massachusetts Award. Our students, faculty, staff, and alumni are in awe of the transformation. Functionality, beauty, and tradition are perfect descriptors of our “new” Judd, which first opened its doors in 1894.
Jablonski DeVriese has helped make our campus a better place in which to live, learn, and work. We appreciate the firm’s involvement in and support of our on-going campus enhancements, as well as our campus master planning process.

Director,
Springfield Museums
The Springfield Museums have been fortunate to work with Jablonski DeVriese Architects on many projects over the years including the new Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History that opened in October 2009. Throughout all of our projects, Steve and Brian have been responsive, innovative and propose wonderful solutions to challenges. They understand the unique opportunities of working within a museum environment. The firm is open to ideas and input. In addition, the firm’s background in historical architecture not only gives them valuable insight in terms of renovation projects, it also lends a sense of history to their new designs.

My husband and I enjoyed working with Steve because he listened carefully to our vision for the reconstruction of our home. With Steve’s help we were able to capture and preserve the very special spirit of our family’s summer home

Spending 1.2 million dollars with Steve Jablonski at the helm was EASIER than any of us thought it could be! We heard that architects and contractors create dissidence-Not True! We heard that architects can be distant and unapproachable using all sorts of trade talk-Not True! We found in Steve Jablonski a tenderhearted, caring man, trustworthy and knowledgeable in the halls of sacred space. Church design and construction are his passion. That made all the difference.

Stephen Jablonski Architects have worked with us on some of the Springfield Museum’s most challenging projects. Each project involved construction or renovation of a facility that had to fit within the context of adjacent historic buildings and in a District controlled by the local Historical Commission. Steve’s office capably navigated the process each time with designs that accomplished their functional purpose while being both aesthetically pleasing and being sensitive to the historic fabric of the neighborhood.

Steve did a terrific job for us- his expertise, historical knowledge, and his well thought out recommendations were all invaluable in connection with a grant we received from the Massachusetts Historical Commission….in addition he was a great guy to work with!

Stephen brings a historical perspective and vision to adaptive reuse projects that is amazing. He is imaginative in solutions to building issues and at the same time very cost conscious.

After working with Steve Jablonski on numerous projects over the past 14 years, I consider him to be one of my very favorite architects. He has a sensitivity to materials, colors and spaces, a solid understanding of the complex procurement process and contractual arrangements, a generous spirit, dedication to high quality design and an unflagging sense of humor.
